A WOMAN lost RM4,000 in angpow money after her luggage was allegedly tampered with during a bus journey from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru on February 4.
The victim, who shared her experience on the Chinese social networking platform Xiao Hong Shu under the username Peach Oolong Tea, discovered the theft after arriving home from Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal.
According to her post, she noticed the zipper of her suitcase had been forced open. While the angpow packets inside appeared undisturbed and sealed, upon closer inspection, she discovered the cash within had been removed.
A police report was filed at the Larkin police station at 10:47 pm on the same day.
The victim urged other travellers to keep valuables with them rather than packing them in checked luggage.
Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed the police report and said an investigation is underway. No arrests have been made at this time.
