A MAN suspected of posting a viral video containing insults against Islam is believed to be abroad, says Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

Speaking to Bernama on Friday, Razarudin said: “Efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing, but we believe he is currently abroad.”

The investigation follows the circulation of a video on social media since Wednesday, which allegedly contained offensive language directed at Islam. Police are working to identify the individual responsible.

A report was lodged at the Manchis police station in Bentong, Pahang, on Wednesday afternoon, prompting the investigation.

The case is being pursued under Section 298 of the Penal Code, which addresses acts that could incite disharmony between races and religions, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, concerning the improper use of network facilities or services.
